Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

  • It's never too early to book doula services! (It’s true! You can read all about it in this blog post). As soon as you find out that you're pregnant, reach out to us to reserve your due date on our calendar. Booking early ensures that you receive support throughout your pregnancy and allows us sufficient time for prenatal visits and preparations.

  • Absolutely! When we say we will support you through any pregnancy journey, we mean it! Doula support is not just for “crunchy” parents or for uncomplicated pregnancies and births; it’s for anyone wanting support through their journey.

For those planning their first or repeat cesarean birth, we offer support geared towards that goal prenatally. We work to make sure you know of all the options available to you so that you can make your birth one you are proud of. If hospital policy allows, we will join you in the OR. Read more about how doulas can help during a cesarean birth here.

Planning to get the epidural as soon as you walk through the door? Cool, we’ve got you covered! During our prenatal visits, we cover everything you should know before the big day. There are so many different ways doulas can help, even if you choose to get an epidural! (Read about it here)

Supporting these births and being comfortable doing so means that we have you covered even if these aren’t in your plans! So, if emergencies come up, or you decide you do want an epidural after all, you can rest assured that we will be able to pivot and continue to support you.

  • Of course! Our goal is to make sure every person has an experience in which they feel comforted, knowledgeable, heard, and safe. We aim to make sure you feel supported and confident in yourself.

Securing a doula early in your pregnancy means you will have support during your pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.

  • Nope! In fact, it’s quite the opposite. A doula is for the whole family and works to make sure you both have a great understanding of what birth will look like, and what a partner's role can look like. Learn more about it here.

  • Yes—wholeheartedly. I welcome and support all kinds of families: solo parents, queer and trans parents, poly families, adoptive parents, chosen families, grandparents raising babies, surrogates, and anyone else creating or growing a family in a way that feels right to them. My role is to meet you where you are, honor your story, and offer care that’s free of judgment and full of respect. If you’re creating a loving space for a baby, you’re in the right place.

  • We support families in most of NJ, parts of PA, and parts of NY. We also offer virtual support to those not in our service area.
Not sure if you’re in our service area? Reach out!

  • We do! No matter where you choose to birth, we will be there to support you.

  • The best way to see if you would like to work with us is by booking a consultation! You can fill out our contact form to book a free consultation. Other ways to learn more about us is by reading our blog or following us on socials! We are on Facebook andInstagram.

Birth Planning & VBACs

  • Yes! I specialize in helping families create birth plans that are clear, respectful, and easy for providers to understand. We’ll focus on what you want, use language that makes sense in a medical setting, and make sure your preferences are presented in a way that invites collaboration—not confrontation. You’ll walk away with a beautiful, one-page PDF that’s easy to share and designed to be taken seriously. Your voice matters—and I’ll help you make sure it’s heard.

  • Absolutely. You don’t need to have it all figured out to start planning—you just need a safe space to explore your options. I’ll walk you through what’s possible, explain things in plain language, and help you tune into what feels right for you. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, unsure, or just want someone to talk things through with, I’m here to help you find clarity and confidence one step at a time.

  • Definitely! Birth is unpredictable, and you are allowed to change your mind at any time—because you’re the one giving birth. A birth plan isn’t a rigid script; it’s a tool for clarity, communication, and advocacy. If your feelings, needs, or circumstances shift, we shift the plan too. I’m here to support you in whatever choices feel best in the moment—even if they’re different than what you originally imagined.

  • Being VBAC certified means that we have taken the time to get educated in how to best support our clients that wish to have a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean.

  • First, you deserve supportive, evidence-based care—especially for your VBAC. If your provider seems hesitant or vague, that’s a sign to ask deeper questions (which I’ll help you with!) or consider switching to someone more aligned. I’ll guide you in navigating red flags, advocating for yourself, and understanding your full range of options. You don’t have to settle for a provider who makes you feel unsure or unsafe. Your body and your story deserve respect.

Postpartum & Lactation

  • Yes! It is actually preferable that you book during pregnancy so you have your time already booked and secure. Having help in place as early as possible can help reduce stress around the postpartum period.

If you have already given birth and would like to book help now, please reach out to see if we are able to accommodate you!

  • Postpartum support can look different for every family. For some, it’s hands-on help with baby care, feeding, or soothing. For others, it’s meal prep, processing the birth, emotional support, or simply having someone there who gets it. I’ll meet you where you’re at—whether that means holding the baby while you shower, talking through your birth experience, or troubleshooting sleep and feeding challenges. It’s support that centers you, not just the baby.

  • Yes! I offer both daytime and overnight support. At night, I can help with feeding (breast or bottle), diaper changes, soothing, and making sure you get some rest. I also offer gentle sleep education—no cry-it-out here—just respectful, developmentally appropriate strategies that align with your values and your baby’s needs.

  • Yes—I offer both! If you're local, I can support you in person at home or in the hospital. If you're farther away (or just prefer staying cozy on the couch), virtual sessions work beautifully too. We can talk through latch, supply, pumping, positioning, and anything else you’re navigating.

  • Yes, definitely. In fact, that’s one of the most common times families reach out! Once you're home and settling in, all the questions (and emotions) tend to roll in too. I offer in-home and virtual lactation support to help with everything from latch and positioning to pumping and supply concerns. You don’t need to wait until things feel hard—I'm here to support you early and often, so you can feel confident feeding your baby your way.

  • Not at all. While many families think of postpartum support as something for the newborn stage, I also support families months into their journey. Whether you're returning to work, weaning, navigating new sleep phases, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here. Postpartum support doesn’t have an expiration date.

  • No problem! While it is one of the most natural things, that does not mean that it comes naturally! That’s why I offer this breastfeeding prep class.

Placenta Services

  • Placenta services should be booked during pregnancy. This ensures we have your due date secured in our calendar and are on call for when you go into labor. Booking early gives us plenty of time to talk about how our services work and help you prepare.

If you have already given birth and are in possession of your placenta, reach out to see if we can accommodate you!

  • Nope! You can book just placenta services. Although, birth clients do receive a discount on birth services.

  • Placenta encapsulation isn’t for everyone—and that’s okay! Some people choose it to support mood, energy, milk supply, or overall recovery. I offer evidence-informed info and a no-pressure vibe so you can decide if it feels aligned. If you’re curious but unsure, let’s chat through it together.

  • When done properly by a trained and certified professional (hi, that’s me!), it can be a safe option for many. I follow strict sanitation protocols, use single-use equipment where needed, and always handle your placenta with the care and respect it deserves. I’ll also let you know if there are any contraindications that might make it unsafe in your specific case.

  • All placenta encapsulation clients receive capsules, a beautiful umbilical cord keepsake, and a one-of-a-kind placenta print. You also have the option to add on tinctures, essences, and salves for continued support well beyond the early weeks. Whether you're looking for energy, emotional balance, or a deeper connection to your body’s wisdom, we’ll find what feels right for you.

Family & Grandparents

  • Grandparent Prep is a 2-hour session designed to get grandparents up to date on today’s newborn care, safety guidelines, and best ways to support new parents. It covers everything from car seat safety to feeding, bathing, and how to offer help that’s actually helpful. It’s fun, informative, and often leads to better communication and smoother transitions for everyone involved. (Plus, it makes a great gift!)

  • Not at all! Whether it's the first grandbaby or the fifth, things change quickly in the world of baby care. Many seasoned grandparents are surprised by how different things are today, and they often leave the session feeling more confident, included, and connected to the whole family.

  • Yes! The session includes up to four grandparents—whether they’re local or joining virtually from different locations. It’s a great way to get everyone on the same page and feel like part of the team, even if they’re far away.

  • Absolutely. All kinds of families are welcome here—blended families, chosen families, LGBTQ+ parents, single parents, co-parenting setups, and more. I offer care that’s inclusive, respectful, and centered around your unique family dynamics. Every family deserves support that feels safe and affirming.

  • Absolutely—what a meaningful gift! Whether it’s a Grandparent Prep Session, a postpartum planning session, lactation support, or birth prep, all of my offerings can be gifted to someone you love.
I’ll make sure the experience feels personal, warm, and supportive from the very beginning. Just let me know it’s a gift when booking, and I’ll take care of the rest (including a sweet note if you'd like!).

Emotional Wellness & Mental Health

  • That’s exactly what I’m here for. You don’t need a perfect plan, a diagnosis, or even the “right” words. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or just need a grounded, nonjudgmental space to talk it out, I’ve got you. Sometimes clarity starts with being heard.

  • Perfectly okay! Support is tailored to you. There are always ways to help that do not include separating you from baby— with day and night support! Mention this during our call for more insight.

  • Yes. You are not alone, and your feelings are not too much for me. I am here to support you with compassion, resources, and care. While I’m not a therapist, I’m trained to recognize signs of postpartum mood disorders and can refer you to trusted providers while continuing to offer doula support alongside your care.

  • Yes, and I will meet you with deep respect and tenderness. Whether you've experienced a previous loss, traumatic birth, or other emotional wounds, I offer a trauma-informed approach rooted in listening and consent. You don’t need to hide your story here—it’s safe to bring all of you into this space.

Bereavement Support

  • I offer support for many kinds of pregnancy and infant loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth, TFMR (termination for medical reasons), and early infant loss. Every experience is unique, and you don’t need to fit into a specific box to receive care. If you’re grieving, you are welcome here.

  • Bereavement support looks different for every family. It might include emotional support, space to process what happened, help with practical decisions, creating memory keepsakes, guidance on how to talk with siblings or loved ones, or simply someone to sit with you in the silence. I tailor everything based on your needs, always with gentleness and respect.

  • There’s no “right” time—whether you’re in the midst of a loss, processing a recent experience, or navigating grief years later, your pain is real and deserving of support. I’m here to walk with you through it all. I can support you during a miscarriage, be present with you through a TFMR (termination for medical reasons), or offer care and compassion after stillbirth or infant loss. Whether you're seeking emotional support, someone to help hold space for your experience, or guidance during incredibly hard decisions, you don’t have to do this alone. I’ll meet you where you are, with gentleness and care.

  • Yes. Grief doesn’t just affect one person—it ripples through relationships. I can work with partners, co-parents, or close family members who are navigating their own grief or unsure how to show up for you. Everyone deserves space to be held.

Payment, Insurance & Accessibility

  • Yes! We offer payment plans for all of our services. During our phone consultation, let us know you are interested in a payment plan and we will accommodate you.

  • At this time, we do not accept any state or private insurance.

  • Absolutely! We are happy to fill out any forms for reimbursement. Mention this during your consultation!
